I n 2017, Atec acquired the Engine Test Systems division/product line of Astronics, Inc. As the successor to Racal and EADS, Astronics was responsible for manufacturing and sustainment of JETI, SETI, TPTI, and NexGen engine control test systems for the US Navy and Marines. Operating under a novated IDIQ tasking contract, Atec’s new Naval Engine Test Systems (NETS) group is moving to upgrade service and equipment for our Navy and Marines customers, as we have successfully done for the USAF. With recent selection of Atec as an EPas MAC awardee in 4 categories, we can provide engine test support to our Navy and allies as we have for so many years to the USAF and its allies.

In early 2018, a large Navy delegation conducted two days of meetings at Atec headquarters aimed at understanding Atec capabilities, explaining status of the IDIQ contract, outlining areas of need and improvement, stressing cyber security initiatives, and establishing points of contact for all parties. A major equipment and spares depot is maintained by our NETS group near Cherry Point, NC. Recent government audit shows $12.5 million of related inventory under our control with no discrepancies. Atec works with the PCARSS, WEBCAV, CAVAF and DO DAAC systems for management of  government property. Utilization, evaluation, repair, BER dispositions, numbering, IUID labeling, shipment, and records are handled in compliance with GFP requirements.

Atec’s NETS group has retained key personnel from Astronics and its predecessors to insure a program success for the Navy. Additionally, Atec’s enlarged field support teams and technology refreshment experience for fielded systems point to quicker response times, increased engine field readiness and modernized systems. As our military and allies move toward the vast benefits of common configuration, our NETS acquisition demonstrates Atec’s commitment to offer all of our service branches and allies the best common engine test assets and support. Already, our 24/7 Hotline is fielding urgent service and supply inquiries from naval and marine callers.

Among our 130 engineers, Atec has a group with a long history in control systems and test benches. We have the support personnel to handle contract administration, design reviews and TIMs, drawings & manuals, and installation & training. In addition to inventory availability under the Navy IDIQ, Atec is active with DSCR and other materials sources. After the sale, Atec will support you for trouble-shooting, repairs and upgrades.
