Atec and Vital Link adopted the Maestas and Limon families this year through Project Joy and Hope. They serve seriously ill children and their families, and have a palliative care facility onsite. This amazing organization, led by Dr. Jan Wheeler and Director Shelley Fuller, allows companies to adopt the families staying at the Tulip Project in Pasadena around Christmas time. It is a great opportunity for our Atec and VLI employees to come together to spread joy to those in need.
This year was the first year that our subsidiary, Vital Link in Sealy participated. VLI adopted the Limon Family. The father, Jose shed tears of joy to see the presents for his family all wrapped under the tree. His daughter, Hailie has had several heart surgeries and suffered a stroke. The whole family has been here for about a year and a half. They were elated to receive the gifts and bikes. They extend their gratitude to our whole Vital Link team for the merriment this has brought them.
The Maestas Family was so grateful for their wonderful gifts. Roberta, age 15, is undergoing trial chemotherapy at MD Anderson and is staying with her family at the Tulip Project. She, her siblings, and parents were overjoyed for their gifts. Little siblings Dean and Zeddy ran to the tree and helped the Atec Elves load up their presents. We thank our Atec employees for coming together to spread the spirit of the season. The smiles on their faces said it all!
A big thank you to Jan, Shelley, Chris and their team! We look forward to continued involvement in Joy and Hope. Director of Volunteers, Shelley Fuller was recently featured in the Around La Porte Newspaper.
