Atec has been with Project Joy & Hope, a greater Houston-area non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of children and families who live with life-limiting conditions, since its inception in 2000 (Fun fact: Atec CEO, Howard Lederer is Chairman of the Board for Project Joy & Hope).
For 15 years, Atec and Project Joy & Hope have worked together to do great and amazing things to help the community. So, whenever there’s a need for volunteers, Project Joy & Hope knows that they can count on Atec to lend a helping hand.
A recent example of that collaboration would be the Shell Houston Open, which took place from April 2nd through Easter weekend. The Houston Golf Association, a major sponsor of the Shell Houston Open, has chosen Project Joy & Hope as an ongoing beneficiary of the Shell Houston Open.
In return, Project Joy & Hope provides a staff of more than 400 volunteers from various businesses and local schools, for the tournament’s many areas, such as handicapped shuttle drivers, ESPN shuttle drivers, PGA child care, front gate admissions and concessions. For the past several years, employees from Atec have attended the Shell Houston Open—in support of Project Joy & Hope— to work the tournament alongside many other enthusiastic volunteers from various organizations.
This year, Atec’s Executive Assistant, Terasa Donnelly volunteered in the concession stand, two Mechanical Inspection technicians, Juan Martinez and Jim Boles, helped out with handicapped shuttles.
“I thoroughly enjoyed working with the other Project Joy & Hope volunteers in the concession stand. It’s an amazing organization with wonderful people!” said Terasa Donnelly, Atec Executive Assistant.
